Left-back Daley Sinkgraven of Dutch champion Ajax Amsterdam has apparently aroused the interest of Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen. According to information in the daily De Telegraaf, Werkself coach Peter Bosz plans to guide his former protégé from the Amstel to the Rhine.
Bosz had used the attacking midfielder during his time as coach in Amsterdam as a backfielder and is considered a big fan of Sinkgravens. “For me, Daley was a revelation,” Bosz was quoted on the Ajax website in February of this year. “He played great. If I were him, I wouldn’t be going back to midfield. I think he can reach world-class levels as a left-back,” the 55-year-old continued.
For some time now, Leverkusen’s budget left-back Wendell has been associated with a departure. According to media reports, the Brazilian Bosz’s claims to this position do not suffice.
Sinkgraven had to fight with a protracted knee injury in the past years, celebrated his comeback only in December. During his abstinence, Nicolas Tagliafico was stuck on the defensive outer track.
Sinkgraven’s contract with Ajax runs until 2020.
Bayer Leverkusen is in fifth place before the 34th matchday, equal on points with fourth-placed Borussia Mönchengladbach. Before the away match in Berlin, everything is still in the cards for the Chamions League.
