Liverpool FC have continued their winning streak in the Premier League. At the end of the 24th matchday, the Reds, despite some serious problems, narrowly beat the Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-1 to win their 14th league match in a row. Another LFC series came to an end.
The leaders, who started the game with the same eleven as they did in their 2-0 defeat of Manchester United, took an early lead despite a brave start by the hosts – and once again, a corner by Alexander-Arnold was the starting point: the right-back hit the ball sharply from the right into the five-metre space, where the run-in Henderson hit the ball with his neck and shoulder rather than his head, but still placed it on the right-hand inside post. From there the ball bounced into the net – 1-0 Liverpool (8th).
The hosts, however, remained true to their cheeky march and caused Liverpool a few problems at the start. Luckily for the Reds, Doherty was able to head past the goal in a completely free-standing manner after a short corner (11). Wolverhampton were even the more active side in the first 20 minutes, Liverpool were looking for calm and more dangerous after counterattacks: Jonny Otto saved with a slide against Salah’s finish (18).
