Kovac: “Must fight against states”

Coach Niko Kovac of the German double winner Bayern Munich has intensified the bidding for the desired player Leroy Sane. “Yeah. Period. Kovac said on Tuesday when asked whether he would like to see the Manchester City professional at the German record champion: “He can definitely help us. “With the national team and City, you’ve seen what skills he has.”

The Bavarians have deposited their interest in the 23-year-old and are currently waiting for feedback. “I don’t know how fast that goes,” said Kovac, who also sees the former Dortmund Ousmane Dembele (FC Barcelona) as a “very good player”.

As CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has already emphasized, “the market must first get started. Then places become free and these places are occupied again. We’ll see what the market has to offer.”

Basically, the club always looks around “in all positions,” Kovac added. After the farewell of Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben the Bavarians would have however “surely in front need”. But on the international transfer market even the German industry leader is having a hard time. “We must fight against states, against billionaires”, Kovac said: “They go to Abu Dhabi, Qatar, Dubai. There is much more money available than in a club like FC Bayern.”

On the case of Jerome Boateng, whom the club wants to sell, Kovac said: “Every player who has an employment contract here gets the same attention – whether he’s willing to change or not. The same goes for him and everyone else. You can’t write anyone off, ever.”

Kovac decisively rejected speculations that he had thought of resigning in May: “I’m here, so the question has been answered.”
