Kovac demands “four players”: Bavaria also hot for Bergwijn?

FC Bayern Munich, along with Leroy Sane and Ousmane Dembele, has apparently also considered Steven Bergwijn of PSV Eindhoven. Coach Niko Kovac demands at least four more transfers. Two clubs are courting Renato Sanches. Here you can find all news and rumours about the FCB.

According to a report by kicker, FC Bayern Munich is also interested in Steven Bergwijn from PSV Eindhoven. The 21-year-old Dutchman could be the alternative on the left wing to the much more expensive Leroy Sane (Manchester City) or Ousmane Dembele (FC Barcelona).

Berwijn is still under contract in Eindhoven until 2022, but was last traded at Ajax Amsterdam, Inter Milan and Tottenham Hotspur. Bergwijn’s consultant had already confirmed talks with Ajax in May. The reports at the time discussed a redemption of around 40 million euros.

A transfer to Ajax, however, seems to be off the table by now. PSV coach Mark van Bommel canceled a change to the biggest competitor in the Dutch league. Bergwijn was the second best scorer of his team in the past season: He scored 15 goals in 41 games and played 13.

FC Bayern Munich still has to land some new players on the transfer market. Coach Niko Kovac reminded the kicker: “We still need four players.” After the numerous retirements, the squad is currently enormously thinned out.

“With 17 professionals we won’t get far, we need 19 already,” Kovac filed. Since Jerome Boateng and Renato Sanches are regarded as possible retirements and the two talents Alphonso Davies and Fiete Arp still owe the proof of their suitability for the first team of the FCB, more transfers might also be necessary.

Especially as time is of the essence. Preparations begin on July 8th. President Uli Hoeneß wants to be “ready” by the end of July. Meanwhile, a transfer for the defensive midfield should no longer be planned according to kicker after the cancellation of Rodri, who is likely to move to Manchester City.

Renato Sanches wants to leave FC Bayern Munich this summer. Two clubs seem to have shown interest in the 21-year-old midfielder from Portugal so far: Paris Saint-Germain and Fenerbahce Istanbul. This was reported by the Portuguese daily A Bola.

Both PSG and Fener had already attempted to sign Sanches in the past transfer period. However, the 2016 European Champion did not receive clearance from the FCB. Also currently it does not look on the part of the residents of Munich after a sale, since the squad of Niko Kovac is very thinly occupied after the departures of Rafinha, Mats Hummels, James Rodriguez, Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery and must first new entries ago, before further stars are delivered. Sanches’ contract runs until 2021.
