Bundesliga: Klose declares rejection of Bavaria's U19

Miroslav Klose decided against a commitment as U19 coach of the FC Bayern and insisted on being allowed to continue training the U17. Now he’s explaining why.

“It was all about my person. I want to learn, I’m not ready yet”, Klose said on the occasion of the premiere of the film by Toni Kroos: “I was always honest with myself. And when I say I’m not ready yet, it’s just honest.”

Bavaria’s sports director Hasan Salihamidzic had originally planned to promote Klose from U17 coach to U19 coach.

The 2014 World Champion rejected this wish, however, and Martin Demichelis, another ex-Bavarian professional, was hired to be responsible for the Munich team’s most important youth team.

“When it comes to me personally, I would like to plan my coaching career, as I have done in my football career,” Klose, who is said to have argued with Salihamidzic and even thought of resigning for a short time, made clear on Thursday.

In the meantime, however, “everything has been clarified”. If Salihamidzic was disappointed, he didn’t know. But “in the end, he understood it too.” Klose will now stay with the U17 for at least another year.

Demichelis succeeds Sebastian Hoeneß in the U19, who had taken over Holger Seitz’s second FCB representation in the 3rd league after the latter’s move to the sports management of the junior performance centre.
