Bayern Munich’s defender Joshua Kimmich has said that he did not intend to kick Jadon Sancho in the Supercup duel against Borussia Dortmund (0:2). Even the 24-year-old thinks the yellow card is overdrawn.
“It was an unfortunate situation”, Kimmich said afterwards in a conversation with DAZN un blamed: “I wanted to get the ball with my foot and he put his foot in. But I didn’t kick him and was angry that I got the yellow card because that wasn’t my intention.”
Kimmich had kicked the BVB wingman off the pitch and was dealt a yellow card.
FCB coach Niko Kovac stood in front of his players after the match. He didn’t see the situation, Kovac said on ZDF, but made it clear: “Joshua doesn’t do this on purpose.”
Borussia Dortmund won the German Supercup on Saturday evening with goals from Paco Alcacer and Jadon Sancho 2:0 and secured the title.
