Karl-Heinz-Rummenigge has ruled out the possibility that FC Bayern Munich will only take the option to buy from midfield star James Rodriguez in order to resell him at a higher price. “We don’t want to do any human trafficking to earn anything from this story,” said the FCB board boss at Sky. The Spanish sports newspaper AS had put such a possibility in the spotlight.
“That’s not the style of FC Bayern,” Rummenigge continued. Although a win of tens of millions beckons, the record champion does not want to break with tradition, according to the 63-year-old: “FC Bayern has never done anything like this before”. A decision about the future of the loan from Real Madrid has not yet been made: “We will certainly meet next week and then decide what to do next”.
In order to firmly commit the Colombian, who was often not the first choice under coach Niko Kovac, the South Germans would have to transfer 42 million euros to Real. However, the market value of the offensive midfielder is much higher and many clubs might be interested in a commitment. According to Rummenigges, however, the national player could return to Madrid.
James’ contract in the Spanish capital runs until 2021, but it is also very doubtful whether he will stay there. Coach Zinedine Zidane was not considered a fan of the fine technician even during his first term at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, and according to a Marca report that has not changed.
