Kehl: No whistles against Hummels

Sebastian Kehl, Head of Borussia Dortmund’s Licensed Players Department, doesn’t expect a whistle against Mats Hummels, who will be returning home, at the Supercup against Bayern Munich on Saturday (20.30 in the LIVE-TICKER and live on DAZN).

“I firmly believe that Mats will not be accompanied by whistling. You can feel that 90 percent of all fans are happy about the change. Mats will convince one or the other with his performance,” said Kehl at the training camp in Bad Ragaz, Switzerland.

Hummels returned to BVB this summer after three years with the German record champion. When his move to Munich was announced, he had to put up with many whistles from the BVB fans.

“The fans wouldn’t help us if they whistled out individual players,” said Kehl, praising the returnee: “It’s a building block that we missed last season. He brings experience, he has a great maturity. He is a seasoned player who has experienced a lot and won many titles.”
