Bundesliga: Karim Onisiwo before leaving Mainz 05?

Karim Onisiwo is currently attracting attention with strong performances at FSV Mainz 05. His contract in Germany is still in force in 2020, but the association is aiming for an early extension. Should this not happen, however, Onisiwo could be turned into money in the summer.

The 27-year-old Austrian holds seven goals and two points in the German Bundesliga, with five of these scorer points in his last five games. Due to his strong second half, the wing forward has aroused some desire.

The Mainz-based company, which has been maintaining a fixed class for some time, wants to retain its top performers at an early stage – as does Onisiwo. His contract, which runs until 2020, is to be extended and thereby improved. But if you don’t come to an agreement with the Austrian international, you don’t want to do without a replacement, which is why a sale next summer would be an option.

After a long way through the lowlands of Austrian football – including the youth of FavAC, Rapid Wien, Austria Wien and Vienna – the Viennese native made his breakthrough at SV Mattersburg in the 2015/16 season. Now he would be closer than ever to his dream goal Premier League.

In an interview with the Salzburger Nachrichten, Onisiwo keeps a low profile on his future, but keeps everything open: “I feel very comfortable in the city and in the club. I’ve got another year’s contract, but who knows what happens this summer. My dream goal is the Premier League.”

With the current services, there will be no shortage of customers. But a stay at Mainz 05 is also a good choice, after all you know what you have at the dribbling wing player.
