James-“Fan” Rummenigge: “The option to draw makes no sense”

Bundesliga: James-"Fan" Rummenigge: "The option to draw makes no sense"

James will leave FC Bayern Munich after two years. This was confirmed by CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge at Sport1 and Sport Bild.

“In principle, the decision was made because he came to me before the end of the season and asked me not to draw the option,” said Rummenigge at Sport1: “Now the option to draw against his will makes no sense. You shouldn’t hire a player for 42 million euros with a corresponding salary if you can’t offer him a permanent position.”

James wants to be a regular player, the Bavarian boss added in the sport picture, “that is not guaranteed here. I regret this personally.” Rummenigge once again proved himself to be a “fan of his playing culture” and called James’ left foot and goal quote “extraordinary. That was already a player with high quality. But it’s no use.”

James came to the Isar in 2017 on loan from Real Madrid. In 67 compulsory games for the Bavarians he scored 15 goals and gave 20 templates. He obviously has no future at Real either. Most recently, Italian media reported an interest of the SSC Naples with the former Munich coach Carlo Ancelotti.

Rummenigge once again ruled out buying James and selling him back at a profit: “That wouldn’t be fair to Real Madrid or the style of FC Bayern. We’re not doing human trafficking here.”
