Bundesliga: Hummels: Decision "quickly clear" after talks with the bosses

Mats Hummels made his first public statement about his return to Borussia Dortmund. On Twitter, the 30-year-old thanked his former club FC Bayern Munich and revealed a few details about the change.

“First of all, thank you FC Bayern, my teammates, the fans for the great affection from the beginning, which I didn’t take for granted, and the staff for the last three years,” Hummels wrote on Twitter.

He was also happy to meet “many great people” and to have experienced “many beautiful moments”. Nevertheless, ‘after the talks with those responsible in Munich and Dortmund […] it quickly became clear to him’ that his ‘footballing home should be with BVB again in future’.

He is therefore “delighted to return to Dortmund and hopefully be able to build on the success of the previous years”.

On Wednesday, it became official that Mats Hummels will return to BVB after three years with FC Bayern, with whom he won two German championships and in 2011/12 even became double winner.

According to media reports, the Black Yellow will pay around 38 million euros for the central defender, including success-dependent bonus payments.
