Ottmar Hitzfeld, long-time coach at FC Bayern Munich, praised the work of head coach Niko Kovac. The Swiss is also convinced that Kovac will remain coach of the FCB.
“Kovac has a chance to get the double in the first year. That’s a great achievement that you can’t judge highly enough,” Hitzfeld said in an interview with DAZN. He also doesn’t think “that Kovac will have to win the cup final to stay a coach.”
Hitzfeld was rather convinced “that the club management is totally behind Kovac”. On Saturday, FC Bayern can make the double perfect in the DFB Cup Final against RB Leipzig.
A week ago the Bavarians under Kovac also won the German championship. Hitzfeld ennobles Kovac for the catch-up race against Borussia Dortmund: “Bavaria was nine points behind. If you then catch up in this environment at Bayern Munich, with this press landscape and all the stars, that’s a great performance. Kovac deserves a 1.”
