FC Augsburg has signed striker Florian Niederlechner of Bundesliga competitor SC Freiburg. The 28-year-old signs a three-year contract with the Fuggerstädter until 2022 and receives the shirt number 7.
“It feels really good to be in Augsburg for the new season. The anticipation is huge! In the second half of the season, I had always kept my eye on FCA and was happy when the class was kept in dry cloths. Right from the start, I only wanted to go to FCA and blocked all other requests, so I’m all the happier that it worked out with the change,” says Niederlechner.
Sports Managing Director Stefan Reuter added: “Florian Niederlechner embodies all the virtues of FCA. He is an incredibly strong running player with a great mentality. He has clearly signaled that he only wants to go to Augsburg. Therefore, we are all the more pleased that we have now been able to realize the transfer.”
Both clubs have agreed not to disclose the transfer fee. Niederlechner has played in the Bundesliga for FSV Mainz 05 and most recently for three years in Freiburg. Last season Niederlechner scored four goals in 24 Bundesliga matches.
