Bundesliga: Fix! BVB striker switches to Primera Division

Alexander Isak does not return to runners-up Borussia Dortmund despite an outstanding back series at Willem II Tilburg in the Dutch honorary football division. The 19-year-old joins Real Sociedad San Sebastian, BVB announced on Wednesday. Isak receives a contract from the Basques until 30 June 2024.

“We wish Alex Isak the greatest possible success in Spain and will monitor his performance closely,” said BVB Sports Director Michael Zorc. The Swede had last played on loan for Willem II. The parties have agreed not to disclose any details of the contract.

Spanish media had reported on a possible redemption of ten million euros for the Scandinavians. For Tilburg he scored 19 goals in 29 compulsory games. In January 2017, the Swede switched from AIK Solna to the black-yellow team for 8.6 million Euros, but was unable to assert himself in the professional squad.

In Tilburg, on the other hand, Isak showed his goal-getter qualities as a temporary player and was recently even in the squad of the Swedish national team in the European Championship qualification. At the 0:3 in Madrid against Spain on Monday evening Isak was substituted in the 82nd minute.
