Bundesliga: FCB will probably face competition from Rodrigo

With Manchester City, FC Bayern Munich will have another competitor in the campaign for Rodrigo. Rafinha gets a special jersey, too. Lothar Matthäus names possible coach candidates and Uli Hoeneß defends Franck Ribery. Here you can find all news and rumours about FC Bayern.

According to AS Atletico Madrid’s Rodrigo, Manchester City has made a formal offer. The midfielder, who is also being courted by FC Bayern, could force his departure from the Colchoneros through the 70 million euro withdrawal clause.

“Currently, Rodrigo is a player of Atletico. […] We don’t want him to go, but if he wants an offer and go, we’ll let him go,” Atletico Madrid’s president Enrique Cerezo told radio station Cope.

Besides Manchester City, who see Rodrigo as Fernandinho’s successor, and FC Bayern, according to the AS, FC Barcelona is also interested in the 22-year-old. However, the newspaper acknowledges that a transfer to Barca is unlikely due to Frenkie de Jong’s commitment.

Besides Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery, Rafinha will also play his last Bundesliga match for FC Bayern this weekend. Also the Brazilian gets a special flock on his jersey with the number 13.

Eight years ago, Rafinha switched from FC Genoa to FC Bayern for 5.5 million euros. With the record champion, the defender won six German championships, three times the DFB Cup and one time the Champions League.

According to information from SOCCERSCORE and Goal, the end for Niko Kovac after the season has been decided. Lothar Matthäus names his favourites for succession to the German Press Agency.

According to the record national player, only Erik ten Hag and Ralf Rangnick appear to be sensible solutions. They would be the only German-speaking coaches I could think of,” Matthäus said.

According to information from SOCCERSCORE and Goal, however, Mark van Bommel is the favourite. The former Bayern captain is currently coaching PSV Eindhoven.

Bavarian President Uli Hoeneß has defended Franck Ribery over the gold steak affair posted by the Frenchman on his social media channels.

“I listened carefully to the story, it was fake news. Franck has been abused,” said Hoeneß at a panel discussion at the Bonn Academy for Research and Teaching, referring to the gold steak affair.

“The only mistake was that he didn’t slap the steak against the wall. He didn’t even eat the steak. He should have clapped it against the wall and everything would have been fine,” Hoeneß continued.
