FCB fans regret Hummels’ BVB switch

Every third supporter of the German soccer record champion Bayern Munich regrets the farewell of former national player Mats Hummels towards Borussia Dortmund. Exactly 35.9 percent of Bavaria’s fans are negative about Hummel’s return to the BVB.

This was the result of a representative survey conducted by the Civey Institute on behalf of the news portal t-online.de. Only 20.9 percent welcome the departure of the 2014 world champion. The situation is completely different for Borussia fans. 54.9 percent are happy about the change of the 30-year-old central defender, 19.6 percent rate the transfer negative.

“Whoever knows me knows that Munich will always be a special place for me. After the talks with those responsible in Munich and Dortmund, however, it quickly became clear to me that my footballing home should be with the BVB again in the future”, Hummels explained his return to the BVB, which was officially confirmed last week.

For the 30-year-old central defender, according to kicker figures, the black-and-yellow pay a total of 38 million euros, which includes some bonuses as additional payments for stakes or successes. According to a report in the picture, Hummels had even turned down an offer from Manchester United for his move to BVB.

BVB Sports Director Michael Zorc spoke of a “courageous, sporting decision” by the player, who had already worn the black-yellow jersey from 2008 to 2016: “That shows what a character he has and that he still has a lot in store for us in terms of sport”.
