As expected, FC Augsburg has poached Timon Pauls from Bayern Munich and filled the position as head scout and squad planner with the 26-year-old.

As the Swabians announced on Monday, he will receive a “long-term contract” from 1 May. Since December 2015, Pauls has been active as a chief scout in the offspring of the German record champion, for whom he has been working in the youth field since 2010.

Managing Director Stefan Reuter praised Pauls, who has Slovenian and Australian citizenship, as an “absolute expert in the field of scouting and management planning”. It fits “perfectly” to the philosophy of the club, “to rely more on own junior players and young talents”. Pauls himself spoke of a “great opportunity”.
