FC Bayern: Kimmich criticizes squad size

Published on

Joshua Kimmich of FC Bayern Munich has expressed himself critically about the current squad size of his club – and his personal opinion about a possible transfer of ManCity star Leroy Sane.

“You can see that we have 17 professional field players,” said the international following his 6-1 victory over Fenerbahce at the Audi Cup. Kimmich added: “This is a chance for the youth players to play themselves into the foreground. But it is not Bayern Munich’s claim to start the season with 17 field players. Especially when you want to play for the title in all the competitions.”

Sane, who for weeks has been associated with a change to the German record champion, could provide some relief. When asked about his DFB team-mate, Kimmich explained: “I have already spoken about this. If the Bavarians have the chance, they have to do it.”

The 24-year-old also said: “I don’t know what the signals are like. If Leroy wanted to, he’d probably be here by now. I don’t know the status of things. I only ever hear that from you.”
