Ex-BVB star believes in championship title

The long-time BVB player Jürgen Kohler still believes in a championship title from Borussia Dortmund. Marco Reus supports his team in Bremen.

Here you can find all news and rumours about the BVB.

Three matchdays before the end Borussia Dortmund are two points short of the table leader FC Bayern Munich. Nevertheless, Jürgen Kohler believes in the title for the black-yellow. “Settlement only takes place at the end. If you carry this thinking into the team and the players keep hearing it, they’ll take it with them,” explained the 105-time national player, who ran for the BVB from 1995 to 2002.

The title probability for the BVB is “60 to 70 percent”, because “by far not everything works for the Bavarians this season”, Kohler continues. However, coach Lucien Favre’s team must not allow themselves to slip in the long-distance duel with the FCB.

“If Dortmund doesn’t win in Bremen, you can close the book,” Kohler made clear.

Marco Reus did his team a disservice with his rude entry into the derby against FC Schalke 04 and the subsequent suspension of two matches. In order to support the duel against Werder Bremen, the captain travelled to the Weser to watch the match from the stands.

Favre doesn’t only have to do without Reus, Marius Wolf is also missing from his red card against Schalke. Furthermore, Achraf Hakimi (metatarsal fracture) and Dan-Axel Zagadou (knee problems) are not on the squad due to injury.

If you trust the statistics, the ride in Bremen will not be easy for Borussia Dortmund. In 108 duels, the Werder team won 44 games with 47 defeats – a quite balanced result. By the way, it was especially successful at home: 32 times it was the winner here.

Both teams recently met in the round of sixteen of the DFB Cup. At that time, the BVB looked like the sure winner, before Bremen fought back and finally showed the better nerves in the penalty shoot-out.
