Eintracht Frankfurt has engaged Erik Durm. The 27-year-old 2014 World Champion comes free of charge from the English Premier League relegator Huddersfield Town. Durm receives a contract with the Hessians until 30 June 2023.
The left-back was under contract to Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga from 2012 to 2018. In the 2014 World Cup triumph, Durm was left without a mission.
“Erik Durm makes us more variable. He is fast and dynamic and has his heart in the right place,” said Eintracht trainer Adi Hütter on Wednesday. Erik Durm not only expands our possibilities, he is a strong character type and an outstanding team player,” said the sports director: “Erik has played at the highest level both nationally and internationally. These experiences are a great added value for our team.”
In addition to Durm, Frankfurt’s midfielder Dominik Kohr (25) of league rival Bayer Leverkusen will be signed. “We’re interested and negotiating,” Hütter said.
