Düsseldorf probably makes use of ManCity

Fortuna Düsseldorf faces the engagement of goalkeeper Zackary Steffen. According to information from SOCCERSCORE and Goal, the US American will come on loan from the English champion Manchester City. The 24-year-old moved to the Premier League just a few weeks ago, and now Fortuna officials have flown to him in America.

The goalkeeper is to be hired out for a year in order to get to know the level in a top European league. At Manchester City, the nationalkeeper has prominent rivals on his side: Ederson is one of the best goalkeepers in the English elite league and Claudio Bravo (Chile) and Arijanet Muric (Kosovo) are two more national goalkeepers in the Pep Guardiolas squad.

For the last two and a half years “Zack” Steffen has been under contract with Columbus Crew in the American MLS professional league, playing his way into the limelight of the top clubs through strong performances. He was named goalkeeper of the year 2018 in the MLS and announced his move to Manchester in December 2018.

At the Fortuna, Steffen would meet Michael Rensing in the goal of the Rhinelanders. Last year Düsseldorf had a good knack for hiring players suitable for the German Bundesliga, and thanks to Dodi Lukebakio (Watford), David Kownacki (Sampdoria Genua) and Aymen Barkok (Eintracht Frankfurt), the class was surprisingly maintained ahead of schedule.

Steffen already gained experience in Germany a few years ago: Between January 2015 and July 2016 he played for SC Freiburg. In the process, he had 14 appearances for the second team of the sports club in the Regionalliga Süd-West, but there was no appearance in the Bundesliga.
