Dortmund celebrates sixth victory in sixth test

Sixth game, sixth victory: Vice-champion Borussia Dortmund is still in a remarkable early form. Coach Lucien Favre’s team prevailed 4-1 (3-1) at the Swiss first division team FC St. Gallen and scored at least three goals in the sixth preparatory match.

Achraf Hakimi (3rd), Jacob Bruun Larsen (31st, 43rd) and Marco Reus (64th) met in front of 13,207 spectators for the guests. The ex-Berliner Jonathan Klinsmann in the goal of St. Gallen looked bad at the second goal. Instead, the son of former national coach Jürgen Klinsmann parried Reus and Bruun Larsen twice brilliantly. Milan Vilotic (45.+1) scored the goal of the hosts.

Already on Tuesday morning the BVB had defeated the twelve times Swiss champion FC Zurich in Bad Ragaz easily with 6:0 (4:0). Jadon Sancho (3), Paco Alcacer (2) and Thomas Delaney scored the goals.

Favre was satisfied and was happy about “a lot of possession, good actions and very good movements.” When he was exploiting his chances, he still saw some room for improvement: “It could have been more.”

In St. Gallen, the coach changed completely except for goalkeeper Marwin Hitz. It’s very important that all players “have 90 minutes in their legs.”

Apart from minor injury problems, the BVB training camp (until Friday) will run according to plan. On Saturday, the Supercup in Dortmund will be followed by a prestige duel with Bayern Munich, the double winner.
