DFL plans new processes for video evidence

Published on

The DFL wants to make the video evidence in the first and second Bundesliga much more transparent in the coming season. In addition, the images from the headquarters in Cologne will be available more quickly.

According to a report by Sport Bild, the video evidence will be much faster in the coming football year. So far, TV viewers have been given priority in showing the action of the game. Now it is possible to switch to the video cellar already during the presentation of evidence.

The room in Cologne is to be brightened and the distance between the camera and the monitors shortened. This would allow the viewer to see on the screen which scene and which detail it is.

In addition, the referees should be provided with more variants of slow motion. The current technology in the stadiums of the Bundesliga already allows you to generate a 360-degree setting for every scene on the field using expensive software. The possibilities of a detailed review are therefore broad.

Whether there will be any changes for the spectators in the stadiums is not clear from the report. Many fans had criticized being left in the dark on the spot about which scene is being checked by the VAR for what reason.
