The Bundesliga coaches are to be suspended after four yellow cards. The DFL Executive Committee will submit a corresponding proposal to the DFL General Assembly on 21 August, as Ansgar Schwenken, DFL Director for Football Affairs and Fans, announced on the fringes of the media workshop Video Assistant on Monday in Cologne.
So far, speculation had been raised about a possible ban after three yellow cards under the newly introduced regulation. Schwenken stressed that the cards for club managers were “not about discipline, but purely about sensible interaction with each other”.
The yellow card should only be drawn as a third stage after an admonition by the fourth official and an admonition by the referee.
The introduction of yellow and red cards had recently caused great excitement among Bundesliga coaches. “That is the largest nonsense of all times , criticized Duesseldorf Coach Friedhelm funkel.
Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann had already called at the International Coach Congress in Kassel – as has now happened – for “at least to move away from the idea of three yellow cards plus red in such fast cases”.
