The DFB Cup is of great importance to football fans. This is the result of a survey of over 5300 supporters/members/sympathizers at bundesligabarometer.de.

For almost 70 percent, the DFB Cup is of “very important” (25.3 percent) or “important” (44.0) importance.

The fascination of the German cup competition is primarily due to the knockout system (70.8 percent) and the possibilities of sensations (68.5). Respondents were also interested in the high level of attention paid to subclass clubs (53.8) and the encounter between David and Goliath (49.9).
