Bundesliga: Cooperation between Bundesliga clubs fails

The planned cooperation between RB Leipzig and SC Paderborn has failed. Both clubs announced this in a joint statement on Wednesday. Accordingly, both sides distance themselves from closer cooperation “because of different views” and for reasons of content.

“RB Leipzig and SCP07 have agreed that a targeted exchange (…) is not feasible as planned”, the Communication stated. There had been intensive talks in the past few days, in which apparently no common basis could be found. SC Paderborn expressly points out that there are “no further motives”, that he did not bow to the pressure from his fan scene.

In the course of the move of SC managing director Markus Krösche to Leipzig, the plan of a cooperation was published. Rumours quickly spread that RB wanted to get a kind of farm team in their own league, which both sides vehemently denied.

“There are neither economic interests nor agreements with Paderborn. The cooperation is of a purely sporting and content-related nature, in the sense of an exchange of expertise, especially in the area of player and coach training and further education,” said RB Managing Director Oliver Mintzlaff to the news portal Sportbuzzer.
