Cologne probably extends feelers to Khedira

Published on

The 1st FC Cologne apparently extends its feelers to Sami Khedira of Juventus. This is what the Gazzetta dello Sport reports.

In the Effzeh, the 2014 world champion would meet an old acquaintance with sport boss Armin Veh. Both won the German championship together with VfB Stuttgart in 2007, with Veh still working as a coach at the time.

However, Khedira earns around six million euros a year at Juve – a sum that Cologne could not afford. Accordingly, the picture reports that the rumors of a possible change are not true.

Nevertheless, there are some question marks behind Khedira’s future. In Turin, he will be on the sidetrack under new coach Maurizio Sarri, and he has not been able to reach the top level of previous years in the long term due to persistent injury problems. It is therefore rather unlikely that he will fulfil his contract with the Old Lady, which is valid until 2021.

Khedira has recently been associated with AC Florence, FC Valencia and the Premier League clubs FC Arsenal and Wolverhampton.
