While the future of Alexander Isak at Borussia Dortmund remains open, the next international club has confirmed its interest in the Swedish striker. Roberto Olabe – sports director of Real Sociedad – said during a media round that the Spanish first division team had the 19-year-old on its screen.
“He is a player whom we – like many others – follow and who we like,” Olabe from AS is quoted as saying. Isak is “a young player who brings a lot of speed with him, moves well and interprets the rooms well.”
In addition to Isak, the focus will also be on Andreas Skov Olsen, an offensive player of the same age from the Danish first division team Nordsjaelland at Real Sociedad, Olabe continued: “These are two players we like and follow.
During the week the daily El Diario Vascoaus San Sebastian reported that Real Sociedad had already made contact with Isak’s advisers. It is unclear whether one is seeking a loan or a purchase.
Isak, who had scored 13 goals in 16 games for Willem II in the Eredivisie in the second half, confirmed about a month ago that he had some inquiries. Ruhr Nachrichten recently reported on a possible nine million euro offer by RSC Anderlecht for Isak.
“I know that there is interest in me in Europe, which makes it more difficult for me to comment on it. I have a contract with Dortmund,” said the Swede, whose contract in Dortmund is dated until 2022.
It is unlikely that Isak could play a role in the BVB under coach Lucien Favre, given his strong development. “I spontaneously can’t think of anyone who would be an option for us.
