BVB interested in left-back Real?

Bundesliga: BVB interested in left-back Real?

Borussia Dortmund apparently has an interest in Sergio Reguilon of Real Madrid. The backfielder could take over from Marcel Schmelzer in the BVB and revive the competition for the newly signed Nico Schulz on the left.

The AS reports that Dortmund has already inquired about Reguilon with the royals. The 22-year-old left-back only played twice under Zinedine Zidane and could well leave the club this summer.

The royals would therefore seek a sale with a buy-back option in order to finance the conversion work to be carried out on the squad. Real had already done something similar with Daniel Carvajal years ago. The royals sold the right-back to Bayer Leverkusen and brought Carvajal back only one year later thanks to a buy-back option.

Ferland Mendy seems to be Zidane’s favourite with Real at the rear left, alongside Brazilian Marcelo, who was seeded under Zidane.

With Nico Schulz from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, BVB has already announced a new addition for the left side. But former captain Marcel Schmelzer could leave the club. Under coach Lucien Favre, Schmelzer was a permanent reservist after an injury suffered at the end of September (bone oedema). A circumstance that sparked rumors of change.

However, sports director Michael Zorc recently indicated that the BVB veteran rock would remain. “He is an important factor for us, even in the cabin. He embodies a high degree of identification with Borussia Dortmund. I want to keep seeing Marcel at BVB,” said Zorc.

However, it is questionable whether Schmelzer will still play a sporting role in the runner-up title. Reguilon is still under contract with Real until 2020 after he was appointed professional by Julen Lopetegui in the summer of 2018. Under Santiago Solari, he was the regular for a short time, but has had an eventful season overall.
