Guido Buchwald strikes back in the dispute with Wilfried Porth, member of the supervisory board of VfB Stuttgart, which is threatened with relegation. Porth had previously accused Buchwald of lying.
In February, Buchwald had resigned from the VfB supervisory board after his counterpart Porth had challenged him 2-2 in the home match against SC Freiburg in a VIP box at Stuttgart Stadium. Porth is said to have yelled at Buchwald and accused him of being to blame for the sporting misery of the Stuttgart team.
“He verbally attacked me in public, with a lot of people sitting around. There are many witnesses,” Buchwald told the dpa about Porth.
Previously, in an interview with the Stuttgarter Zeitung and the Stuttgarter Nachrichten, the Daimler Board Member for Human Resources had claimed that Buchwald’s version of the story, “that I mobbed him out,” was “simply not right.
Buchwald now regrets again that Porth has made a public statement on this in the explosive sporting situation at VfB. “Something like this is certainly not good for VfB Stuttgart in the current situation,” said the former world champion.
