Bundesliga: Boateng consultant demystifies change plans

Christian Nerlinger, Jerome Boateng’s advisor, has denied his client’s possible plans to emigrate. Previously, President Uli Hoeneß had suggested that the 30-year-old central defender leave FC Bayern Munich.

“After this season I had a long and very trusting conversation with Jerome,” Nerlinger told the kicker. “We have clearly decided not to talk to other clubs because of last summer’s experience and under the current circumstances.”

Last summer, a move to Paris Saint-Germain had failed due to coach Niko Kovac’s veto. According to Nerlinger, there are also potential interested parties now: “If a world-class player like Jerome Boateng is on the market and the parameters are known, you don’t have to search, but the clubs get in touch”.

Boateng himself also stressed that he wanted to stay with FC Bayern. “I’m definitely not gonna run away from here. Situations change quickly,” he told the kicker. Hoeneß had said on the sidelines of the double celebration at Marienplatz at Sport1 that it was “better for him to go”.

Currently Boateng is on vacation. “He will come back in top shape and then be mentally full,” explained Nerlinger. “Then he’ll really attack, and that – as of today – at FC Bayern Munich.” His contract runs until 2021.
