Jerome Boateng has apologised for his listless behaviour at the championship party of his club Bayern München.
“I know that many people were critical of my behaviour back then, including many fans. And I understand that. No matter what happens now, I want to apologize for it in any case,” the 30-year-old told Bild am Sonntag.
After winning the championship in mid-May and winning the cup against RB Leipzig a week later, Boateng had decided not to celebrate with his teammates in front of the fans.
In response, Bavarian President Uli Hoeneß Boateng had suggested a change of club. “I would recommend him as a friend to leave the club. He needs a new challenge, he looks like a foreign body,” said Hoeneß.
Boateng asserts that it was not a provocation. “That wasn’t okay, but I really didn’t mean to upset or insult anyone. I only acted out of deep disappointment at my situation. I couldn’t help it,” he said.
