Five years after the departure of national goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach could once again lose their number one spot to FC Barcelona.
As the Spanish newspaper Marca reports, Yann Sommer is one of the candidates to succeed Dutchman Jasper Cillessen, who is dissatisfied with his role as a substitute behind ter Stegen and wants to leave the club.
The 30-year-old summer had moved from FC Basel to Gladbach in 2014 as the successor of ter Stegens. The Swiss national goalkeeper still has a contract with the foals until 2021.
In addition to Sommer, Cameroonian Andre Onana (23/Ajax Amsterdam) and Spaniard Pau Lopez (24/Betis Sevilla) will be on Barca’s list of candidates.
