Steven Bergwijn’s advisor denied that he had set a transfer deadline for FC Bayern Munich, who was allegedly interested in his client. SportBild had previously reported that Agent Fulco van Kooperen would demand a decision by the end of this week.
“We never said we’d lose our patience,” Van Kooperen told ESPN. “Bavaria is a big club and it’s great that they’re interested in Steven. They can take all the time they need.” The 21-year-old left-winger Bergwijn is still under contract with PSV Eindhoven until 2022.
According to the SportBild report, there had already been contact between the players’ side and Bayern Sports Director Hasan Salihamidzic. FC Bayern, however, continued to prefer a commitment from either Leroy Sane (Manchester City) or Ousmane Dembele (FC Barcelona).
Should these two transfers fail, Bergwijn would be one of six alternative options according to SportBild. The other players mentioned are Hakim Ziyech (Ajax Amsterdam), Yannick Carrasco (Dalian Yifang), Leon Bailey (Bayer Leverkusen), Dani Olmo (Dinamo Zagreb) and Marc Roca (RCD Espanyol).
