Luca Beckenbauer apparently beckons a professional contract with Hannover 96. The grandson of soccer legend Franz Beckenbauer is currently captain of Hannover U19 and has apparently recommended himself in this role for higher tasks.
“He still needs time, of course. But from a perspective perspective Luca Beckenbauer is considered to be eligible for a professional contract”, 96 President Martin Kind told the Bild.
The 18-year-old central defender has already trained with the professionals several times and will continue to work his way up to the professional team of Lower Saxony via the U23 in the Northern Regional League.
Hanover’s junior boss Michael Tarant is one of the youngster’s biggest supporters and brought him from the youth of FC Schalke 04 to Hanover a year ago.
“The name is a heavy burden, everyone thinks of their famous grandpa. I talked to Franz on the phone and told him that 96 was a good move. Luca is very ambitious, he takes on responsibility as captain and does his job very well.” Taranat said to the picture.
Franz Beckenbauer also hopes that his grandson will seize this opportunity to gain a foothold in professional football: “I would be very happy if it worked out. Luca had a great training at FC Bayern and Schalke, which will certainly help him,” said the 1974 World Champion.
