Max Kruse’s contract with Werder Bremen expires this summer. Sport boss Frank Baumann has now explained how he wants to persuade the striker to stay on the Weser.
“One must not forget that Max had really good years here in the past and was an important player in whom many clubs were specifically interested,” Baumann told the portal meinwerder.de.
And the 43-year-old added: “But we were always able to convince Max that he can call up his top performance at Werder and that he has a high significance in the team structure. These are our arguments to convince Max to stay.”
If possible, Baumann explained, they wanted to have clarity in May as to whether Kruse would stay or move to another club.
31-year-old Kruse, who came to Bremen from VfL Wolfsburg in 2016, scored 12 goals for Werder in 35 compulsory games this season and prepared 14 more goals.
