Defense chief Kaan Ayhan may remain with Fortuna Düsseldorf after all. The central defender let the exit clause expire, which would have allowed him to make a change for at least 4.5 million euros.

“Nothing has arrived with me, and if it had arrived with someone else, I would know that,” Fortuna’s sports director Lutz Pfannenstiel told the Express.

After a strong second half Ayhan was in conversation with Schalke 04, Werder Bremen and Borussia Mönchengladbach. Should the Turk still change, it should become considerably more expensive than foreseen in the clause.
