Ex-managing director Klaus Allofs has taken the players of Werder Bremen to task in the relegation battle of the German Soccer League.
“Everyone must understand that even a defended corner, a blocked free kick or a won duel can bring a push,” Allofs wrote in his column on “deichstube.de”.
Especially with standards the team has to defend itself more, as 17 goals scored after corners or free kicks would prove. “But this has to happen quickly. Five points behind in 15th place is certainly still to be made up, and the team can do it. But for that to happen, the whole team has to make a push, otherwise it will soon be too late.”
