Bundesliga: Alaba flattered by Barca interest

Bayern Munich’s David Alaba flatters the alleged interest of FC Barcelona. Niko Kovac is satisfied with the US tour. Jerome Boateng is allowed to stay after all. Here you can find all news and rumours about FC Bayern.

Bayern Munich’s David Alaba has flattered himself by the alleged interest of FC Barcelona. “Of course it’s an honor, of course it’s an honor for me,” said the left-back in Kansas City. Despite the annually recurring rumours, however, a transfer is rather unlikely.

“I have the full focus here in Munich and on the preparation. I think we have a lot of plans for the new season,” the Austrian clarified. In recent years he has repeatedly been associated with a move to Barcelona, but it never really became concrete.

However, Alaba could not promise what this would look like in the future. His contract runs for another two years: “I’m not a player who doesn’t look far into the future. But I could imagine anything.”

After his arrival in Kansas City, Bayern Munich’s coach Niko Kovac has spoken very positively about the course of the US tour so far. “We have very attractive opponents here. Everybody would like to recommend themselves, also, because in the first weeks perhaps less rotation takes place. We work well. The journey is a great success,” he summed up.

The team had shown some progress and was not tired despite the tight schedule. Nevertheless Kovac will arrange free days on Thursday and Friday after his return to Munich. The final phase of preparation for the new season then begins.

Captain Manuel Neuer also expressed his satisfaction: “We had great conditions here and were able to prepare ourselves accordingly well. The last test of the US-Tour will take place in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday (4am live on DAZN).

Jerome Boateng will probably stay with FC Bayern Munich. At least coach Niko Kovac expects that. “If he stays as it looks, he has the same chances as any other player. He is doing very well and I am very pleased with his performance so far in the preparation,” said the FCB coach in Kansas City.

FC Bayern will not force Boateng out of a valid contract, Kovac emphasized: “He still has a two-year contract. If he stays, he’ll be a part of the team.” In the preparation Boateng seemed to show good performances in training and test games.

However, the defender will not take part in the final test against AC Milan, but flew back to Munich immediately after the match against Real Madrid.

FC Bayern Munich will once again be hosting the Audi Cup in the Allianz Arena on 30 and 31 July. Shortly before the start of the season, coach Niko Kovac will have another opportunity to test at a high level in two games. The invited opponents are the Tottenham Hotspur, Real Madrid and Fenerbahce.

FC Bayern will face Fenerbahce in the semi-finals and Real Madrid will play the Spurs on the same day. On the second day, the losers will play for third place, the winners of the semi-finals the final.
