Akanji makes it clear: This is how the BVB counters racism

Borussia Dortmund would leave the pitch closed in the event of racist incidents. This was revealed by BVB professional Manuel Akanji in his column on “watson.ch”.

Most recently, there were racist insults in German professional soccer against Würzburg professional Leroy Kwadwo as well as Jordan Torunarigha of Hertha BSC. The incident involving the Berliner was also a topic in the BVB booth, as Akanji now reported.

“I talked to my team-mates Dan-Axel Zagadou, Axel Witsel, Thorgan Hazard and Raphael Guerreiro about how we would have acted on the field,” said the central defender. “And we agreed that if something like this happened at home, we would leave the field as a team as a whole.
