Van de Beek to Real? That’s what the Ajax boss says.

Sports director Marc Overmars of Dutch double winner Ajax expects his courted midfield star Donny van de Beek to stay in Amsterdam this summer.

Van de Beek, who played an outstanding 2018/19 season, will remain with coach Erik ten Hag’s club until 2022. Recently, a change to Spain’s record champions Real Madrid was considered very likely. This one apparently broke up.

At the same time Overmars affirmed that the squad stands for the coming season and that there are no further new members planned. Only Joel Veltman is to extend the contract.

“Joel is a child of the club and he would have liked to change now,” says Overmars. “But we need him now, and we’re gonna do everything we can to get this done decently.” Veltman is currently linked to Ajax until 2020.
