Real Madrid’s Florentino Perez has confirmed the continuing rumours about Sergio Ramos and Eden Hazard. The club president also regretted the early departure of Julen Lopetegui.
“It’s impossible for Real Madrid to let its captain go free,” Perez told El Transistor about a possible farewell to Ramos. The defender had recently presented him with an offer from China, which, however, did not provide for a transfer. This was unthinkable for the royals and for the change-willing Ramos.
Perez made it clear, however, that he would not assign “any greater value” to the meeting. Players would have approached him with transfer requests several times, but only rarely would anything really have happened: “At the moment we remind all players who want to leave of their exit clause.
While Perez doesn’t want Ramos to say goodbye to him, he does want Chelsea FC to transfer Hazard: “I won’t deny that we’ve been trying to make Hazard a Real player for several years. I hope it works out this year.”
According to Perez, Real Madrid must always have the best players in the world in its squad. But contact with Neymar and Kylian Mbappe has not yet taken place: “The President of Paris asked that we make it clear that we do not want them. We did it out of respect. If we wanted her, we’d talk to PSG first.”
The first internal contact for transfers is trainer Zinedine Zidane. Perez regretted that there were two coach changes during the season. “It has been seen over the course of the season that the changes have not solved our problems.” He should have trusted Julen Lopetegui more: “He wasn’t the problem.”
The professionals would have been “mentally exhausted” in the course of the season. But Perez doesn’t regret Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure: “I always had a perfect relationship with him. He wanted to start a new chapter and found it in Turin. It was good for everyone, including us.”
With regard to further transfers, Perez indicated that none of the stars, apart from Ramos, had yet received an offer. Gareth Bale should also remain: “He’s a great player.” Looking at James Rodriguez and FC Bayern, Perez said, “No decision has been made yet.”
Asked about Frankfurt’s Luka Jovic Eintracht, Perez admitted to watching the striker. “We have a good relationship with Eintracht Frankfurt,” said the Real President, adding: “Also with Borussia Dortmund.” Jürgen Klopp, meanwhile, has never been a topic in Madrid: “Let’s see what the future holds.”
