Primera Division: La League boss is against Neymar return

In speculation about the future of Brazilian superstar Neymar, Spain’s league president Javier Tebas has spoken out against the 27-year-old’s return to FC Barcelona. “I’d rather he didn’t come back to La Liga,” the 56-year-old is quoted after a radio interview with Onda Cero at Sport, the Catalan football fans’ newspaper.

Tebas justifies his attitude with Neymar’s behavior, which is “not good for competition,” because in the end, “this or that thing the player does is a message.

La Liga, on the other hand, would stand for values. And so the high functionary states: “If the behavior outside the place is not correct, I’d rather not have him in the league, because he doesn’t set a good example”.

Last Thursday in Vice-President Jordi Cardoner for the first time a high-ranking member of the leadership of Spain’s champions had confirmed interest in the transfer of Neymars from Paris St. Germain back to the Catalans. The 27-year-old was already under contract with the Spanish renowned club from 2013 to 2017, but then switched to France’s series champion for the record turnover of 222 million euros.

Most recently, however, Neymar, who is missing at home from Copa America due to a foot injury, was more noticed for escapades off the pitch.

One after the other, a referee scolding expressed in the instagram, a fist punch against an opposing fan as well as the still unsolved rape accusations brought him negative into the headlines.
