Competition for Bayern: Coach job for Xabi Alonso?

The Spanish first division team Real Sociedad wants to bring back their former player Xabi Alonso as coach. According to the AS, the club has already made an offer to the former world and European champion.

Alonso should therefore first gain experience with the second or third team. As a perspective, he will be offered the position of chief of the pros, who are currently ranked eighth in LaLiga. The report states that there had already been a meeting between Alonso and club president Jokin Aperribay.

This means competition for FC Bayern, who would like to see their former midfield star back in their own ranks.

FCB boss Karl-Heinz Rummenigge recently raved about the 37-year-old and described him as “the smartest and best strategist I’ve ever seen in midfield”. Rummenigge continued by saying in the Bild am Sonntag: “In my opinion, we must make every effort to ensure that he returns to Munich at some point”.

Alonso is currently working for the reigning Champions League winner Real Madrid in the youth section. At the same time, the 114-time Spanish national player is completing his training as a coach.
