Supertalent Callum Hudson-Odoi of Chelsea FC is about to extend his Blues contract, according to information from SOCCERSCORE and Goal. The wing forward, who is currently suffering from the consequences of a Achilles tendon rupture, would thus reject a change to FC Bayern Munich.
The 18-year-old left-winger, whose Blues contract expires after the coming season in the summer of 2020, had been repeatedly associated with a change to the German record champion in recent months. The Bavarian leadership had been offensively soliciting Hudson-Odoi, but several offers had been rejected by the Blues.
Now it looks as if a replacement free of charge will be shattered after the end of the upcoming season. The main reason is Frank Lampard: The new manager at Stamford Bridge, who has himself played highly successfully in the Chelsea jersey for over a decade, is said to have convinced Hudson-Odoi of a future in the English capital in a personal interview.
Lampard is said to have assured him that when the outside striker returns from his serious injury he will build on him and give him the desired minutes of action. Under Lampard’s predecessor Maurizio Sarri, Hudson-Odoi was only used sporadically last season, including in the Premier League not a single time over the full distance. Throughout the season, he scored six goals and seven templates for the pros.
To sign a new contract, Hudson-Odoi is expected to collect around 100,000 pounds per week, or the equivalent of 5.8 million euros per year.
Hudson-Odoi broke his Achilles tendon in April in a league game against Burnley and will miss Chelsea’s opening game of the season. When it will be operational again is still open.
