Premier League club Manchester City wants to strengthen its offensive for the coming 2019/20 season and has Benfica’s super talent Joao Felix and also Luka Jovic from Eintracht Frankfurt on the list.
According to information from Goal and SOCCERSCORE, the Cityzens are currently weighing up how much one can pay for the Portuguese jewel in order to simultaneously outperform other top European interested parties in transfer poker. The Felix exit clause in Lisbon amounts to around 120 million euros. However, the reigning English champion does not want to pay this sum.
The 19-year-old offensive player was observed by City Sports Director Txiki Begiristain in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-final between Benfica and Eintracht Frankfurt (4-2), where Felix caught the eye with a hat-trick. In addition, the sports director of the Cityzens also took a look at Frankfurt’s Luka Jovic, in which the English top club is also showing interest.
Because City doesn’t want to get involved in any intensive negotiations with Felix, they are willing to do some good persuasion work. Recently, Begiristain and Felix’s advisor Jorge Mendes have already met to discuss the chances of engaging the top talent. Among other things, Mendes also represents some stars of the Skyblues, who were also the topic of the conversation.
All in all, the flexible Felix has scored 16 times in 38 competitive games of the current season and convinces with his presence on the pitch. This is also the reason why Juventus Turin and City’s city rival Manchester United are on the agenda for a transfer of the 19-year-old.
According to information from Goal and SOCCERSCORE, the Cityzens’ leaders were also impressed by Florentino Luis, who at 19 years of age is in the defensive midfield of Portugal’s top club, when he observed Joao Felix.
