Jürgen Klopps’ advisor Marc Kosicke talked about the future of the coach of FC Liverpool and stressed that the value of his client for the Reds can hardly be balanced in money.
“Jürgen is not affordable at the moment. But it is difficult anyway to measure the replacement in his case,” Kosicke said in an interview with the world. “How is that supposed to work for a coach under whom the club’s value has risen from just under £900 million to a reported £2.8 billion? I can’t do that.”
After Klopp won the Champions League with Liverpool last season and narrowly missed the Premier League title, the Reds want to “extend” their contract with the German, as Kosicke revealed.
According to his advisor, Klopp had “felt again during the recent celebrations in the city what a great club FC Liverpool is and that it is in the right place at the right time”, especially in the past season. Kosicke makes it clear that his work is “much appreciated by the Reds because he has succeeded in developing into a top European club”. “But with the win of the Champions League the view of Jürgen has changed once again. He has not only restored the LFC’s self-confidence, but has also quenched its longing for silverware.”
The former Dortmunder and Mainzer is still contractually bound to Liverpool until 2022. According to Kosicke, replacing Joachim Löw as national coach afterwards would be “an option”: “Jürgen himself once said that if Jogi Löw doesn’t want to be national coach any more and the constellation is such that he could do that, this would be an option for him”.
In addition to Klopp, Löw’s co-coach Marcus Sorg and U21 national coach Stefan Kuntz are also considered possible candidates to succeed the national coach.
