The current Champions League Cup is 73.5 centimetres tall and weighs 7.5 kilograms. The handle pot is mostly made of 925 sterling silver. Inside the trophy is gilded with 24 carat gold leaf.

Real Madrid had held the trophy the most since its introduction. Since 2006, the royals have won the Champions League four times. In the past three years also in series production.

Should a club win the title for the fifth time or three times in a row, a rule from the 1968/69 season states that it may keep the pot with the handle. FC Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Ajax Amsterdam, AC Milan, FC Liverpool and FC Barcelona have already placed an original in the trophy cabinet.

Since Liverpool won the 2005 Champions League, the current trophy was re-created for the following season. Jürg Stadelmann created the current trophy and, according to his own statement, took around 340 hours to complete.

“I remember that it had to be ready by 28 March,” Stadelmann said in 2011, “because I got married and wanted to go on a ten-day boat trip to Los Angeles with my wife. I did the finishing touches before the engraver, Fred Bänninger, put in his last hand. In time, as I am fortunate to say.”

The UEFA Champions League final between Tottenham Hotspur and FC Liverpool will not be broadcast live on free TV. DAZN and Sky share the broadcasting rights.
