Bundesliga: Watzke raves about Favre: "Sensational"

Borussia Dortmund’s managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke is very satisfied with the work of coach Lucien Favre. Thorgan Hazard wants to meet the new requirements. Patrick Owomoyela and Norbert Dickel are probably no longer active for the time being. Here you can find all news and rumours about the BVB.

Borussia Dortmund’s Hans-Joachim Watzke is still taken with the work of Lucien Favre. “In my opinion, Lucien is absolutely top of the league technically. He has once again given our team a clear signature and managed to get attractive football played again,” the managing director told SportBild.

This is another reason why Borussia Dortmund is “very happy” with the Swiss: “When it comes to conveying content, Lucien is sensationally good”. All new players would be “thrilled with the meticulousness with which he goes forward.” Watzke particularly likes Favre’s approach to didactics: “He attaches great importance to ensuring that the players not only implement his instructions, but also understand them.”

The relationship with sports director Michael Zorc is also good: “They get along great, have a permanent exchange and work together very well.

Borussia Dortmund’s new member Thorgan Hazard likes the new challenges at BVB. In an interview with SportBild he said: “Of course I feel more pressure, more international interest, more competition than in Gladbach already in the first weeks. But that’s exactly what I wanted.”

The championship goal impresses the Belgian accordingly: “For me it is slowly time to win the title. The BVB is a club that always claims to win.” Nevertheless, Hazard had to admit: “If your competitor for the title is Bayern München, it’s of course not that easy.”

Meanwhile he would have wished himself a “better farewell” from Gladbach: “The last months were not easy”. But he sees the whistles of the fans in Gladbach as recognition for his good performances. He contradicted rumors of protest: “I would never deliberately play badly.”

Borussia Dortmund has apparently withdrawn its commentators Norbert Dickel and Patrick Owomoyela from circulation until further notice. As the picture reports, after their verbal derailments in the test match against Udinese Calcio (4:1), both will not accompany any more matches on BVB-TV for the time being.

“We sanctioned their misconduct and made it unmistakably clear to both of them that their attempt to be funny had gone completely wrong, was absolutely out of place and that there was no room for such remarks here,” said BVB a few days ago.

Owomoyela contradicted the public view: “I have not racist insulted or titled anyone! That was differently represented by various media and is absolutely wrong!” He admitted one mistake, but wanted to make it clear: “I don’t have any xenophobic or discriminatory ideas in me – and even for Nobby Dickel I can say: He’s not xenophobic at all.”
