Bundesliga: Schalke 04: Harit about to change to Serie A?

Amine Harit could apparently leave FC Schalke 04 this summer. The Moroccan is supposed to be in conversation with FC Genoa from Serie A. Weston McKennie, on the other hand, could be the new captain of the Schalker.

Here you can find all news and rumours about FC Schalke 04.

FC Genua apparently has an eye on Amine Harit from FC Schalke 04. This was reported by Sky Italia journalist Gianluca di Marzio on Wednesday. The Serie A club is said to have already made contact with the Royal Blues and Harits advisors.

Although the 22-year-old midfielder still has a contract with the squires until 2021, after a weak 2018/19 season he is considered a candidate for a possible retirement.

The Moroccan national player had to struggle with injuries, form crises and lack of discipline and was at times even removed from the Schalker squad. In a recent conversation with the L’Equipe, however, he stated that he had been purified.

“When I found out I was going to be a father, I clicked. In football, you can fool around, but with a child, you don’t have the right to make mistakes. I understood that I had to change,” Harit said. He hopes that he will be able to “get one hundred percent out” in the coming season, and that “there won’t be a problem any more.”

Weston McKennie could take over the captain’s post under the new Schalker coach David Wagner despite his young age (20). This is what the Sport Bild reports in its issue on Wednesday.

Other candidates besides McKennie, who recently extended his contract with Schalkern until 2024, are Vice Captain Benjamin Stambouli, Daniel Caligiuri and Alexander Nübel.

McKennie himself can well imagine his role as team captain. “I think I have the qualities of a leader. I already like to conduct the people in front of me”, he said to the Sport Bild: “I want to be a football machine”.

In the final of the Gold Cup, which the USA lost 1-0 to Mexico, McKennie led the US boys on the field as captain. At the latest at the beginning of August, after returning from the nine-day training camp in Austria, Schalke’s coach David Wagner wants to announce who will take over from Ralf Fährmann. The goalkeeper transferred on loan to Norwich City in the Premier League.

Three years ago McKennie came from the Dallas Academy to the miners’ forge and only one year later made the leap from the Schalker U19 to the pros. The American international was one of the few constants of the royal blue in the completely messed up season of the past season.
